Hello, Rebel Egg Games!
Just wondering if the game is still being worked upon. I have played a bit of it and it is quite enjoyable. I look forward to going deeper into the basement!

(1 edit) (+1)

Hey,
There's been not enough interest in the game, which is why we had to give it a pause.

However we will deliver the full version for sure, as I'm also a player that HATES when games stay in EA forever :)

Currently full release of Innkeeper's Basement is planned for somewhere this year.
There is still a scheduled unreleased big update, but because of many personal problems, I had to delay it - it will arrive as soon as possible on Steam & possibly itch too.

Thanks for the heads-up!
I look forward to the finished product and I hope you aren't too demoralized by a lack of response to your game. Script another one using what you know now and try again! (Surveys work too, most of the time!)
Best wishes to you and your team!

I too hate when games stay in Electronic Arts.

Me too ;) 😂

Sneed!!!

Chuck???

Sorry for breaking your game. Other than that, amazing and really fun! Tricky at times, but the reward when you unleash a devastating series of attacks is well worth it

Thanks! Glad you liked it :)

There is still a lot to do till the game is completed. Hopefully you will like future updates even more ;)

Game plays pretty well, lots of fun to slowly figure out strategies. Some enemies could really use a tooltip that explains their special abilities! Desolator, for example, appears to discard one card form your hand every turn, and necromancer occasionally summons more enemies. I had no way to know this or plan for it until it happened.

I've also encountered a bug where the stairs to leave the arena don't work, and one where shops can't be accessed. In both cases the game throws the error message "ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index" Both of these only happened when I was playing as a fairy.

You can right-click on the enemy to see his info (along with special effects!) - it's not really communicated in the game, as there is no tutorial yet, sorry :)

Thank you for the bug report, I will look into that.

Can you make it a button or allow keybinds as you need a mouse to easily view their effects

Are you playing on mobile? This game is not really targetted for mobile devices.

I doubt I will find time for this, but will think about it.

No, but I'm playing on a laptop without a mouse, so it's pretty inconvenient to use some controls

It's because your handler for right-click is wrong, it doesn't work correctly on trackpads (eg many laptops, depends on the driver). This is a well-known problem in Unity input that it's easy to get wrong (due to poor docs from Unity).

Thanks for pointing that out, I wasn't aware of this issue.

Should be fixed before full release.

“Curse of Wokeness: Lose all gold”

Sigh. Was having fun, bailed when I saw this.

There are few other memes included in the game. There is blue/red/black pill and some other things, you can even find "SPAM" card, which essentially spams the deck.

A lot of people had a laugh at those cards, but yeah, I do understand that not everyone will like this kind of humor.

There are some jokes in the events too and there are more to come.

But nevertheless - thanks for the feedback :)

BTW - rating a game 1-star for a meme/joke you didn't like while otherwise enjoying the game is a bit harsh, but ok.

Memes: fun, most people will enjoy them if not overdone, and they’re not overdone here; they’ll be either a laugh or a groan, and either way that’s fun. Charged political memes: not so fun, alienates a substantial fraction of people, they’ll be either a laugh or an “ugh, yeet”.

(+1)

Is that the only thing you have an issue with?

Nice, 5 stars!. A little bit to complex at begginig, a good tutorial would be helpful

(I know that tutorials are quite a bit of programming... ;)

Thank you for the feedback!

I'm planning to add tutorial for the Steam demo.

Ogre assasin  is my favorite so far. Just using the one strike that sacrifizes all

your HP against the final boss is the most stable way I found to beat it. You can create an endless loop to buff your HP or attack with the right cards but it is very instable early on.

Thanks for feedback!

Balancing between tactics "good early" and "good late" was something I really wanted to push forward here! :)

If you didn't yet - join Discord if you don't mind ^^

I encountered two bugs. One makes it so you can no longer draw cards until

you restart the game, this happens if you click too fast on the campfire I think. The other is something that no shops open until you reload the game, I don't know what triggers that one. Only missing paladin, librarian and gnome in terms of unlocks. Got all the constellations.  Capricorn is my favorite constelation so far.  The difficulty spike of the last boss is extremely hard but it makes it rewarding to game around it.

The first games I was playing fairy and wiped on the boss even with massive damage spikes.  Maybe invisibillity or something could do it but I switched to ogre as said.

Nice! Good job with the unlocks! That's impressive :)
I know already about the campfire bug, but the missing shops... is something new. Do you have any more details on that one?
Thanks!

this is pretty fun, I like it! not sure how to unlock characters and classes but its still enjoyable :)

Thank you!

If you mouse over the "?" portraits, you will see a tooltip, that will help you out!

Many things in the game have tooltips :)

I played your game

(1 edit)

Thank you very much! Love your video :) you will be first forever :D

I will answer a couple of things:

1. Why you didn't see that you took damage - damage wents in first, then regen happens - so basically you regened the damage.

2. You didn't notice that when you switch levels, all the visible enemies deal "attack of oportunity" - I think I will put a warning there.

3. Tutorial is something I'm planning to add for the Steam demo :)

4. Potion of Rebirth says that it removes all cards. Maybe I will put this part in red color as a warning :)

Please check out the today's 0.18 version - I think it is worth it :)

* as of v0.17

+ a wide variety of possible builds, which aren't railroaded (race/class picks are meaningful, but don't exactly define your playthrough)

+ quick and straightforward to get into with seemingly high skill ceiling

- obviously unfinished (from UI to lacking content) with questionable balance, although I can easily see it getting better with more choices added in the future

Overall very promising.

Thank you for feedback!
The upcoming v0.18 should address some of the issues - UI should feel better for sure :)

I've never been a big fan of card games or roguelikes but this game has something about it. In the evenings I play some medival tavern soundtrack and try to beat my record ;) I'm impatiently waiting for further improvements and the soundtrack in the background. The name and appearance of the menu attracts attention, an interesting and ingenious gameplay system and beautiful images, a nice idea with a bestiary. Still lamie a lot but learning not to make bad decisions :) big props

Thank you for feedback!
Soundtrack is something that will come in around February.

Nice game , good pace , can t wait to see it polished :D

Thanks! Can't wait to finish polishing it :)
There is still a couple of important mechanics missing in the game, once they are there - it should get even better :)
